SASSA Application Guide

Apply for SASSA Grants – Online or In-person

If you’re looking to apply for a SASSA grant, you have two options: visit a SASSA office in person or apply online via the SASSA services website. Let’s break down both methods step by step.

Applying for a SASSA Grant In Person

To apply in person, head to your nearest SASSA office. If you’re unable to go yourself due to illness, age, or disability, you can appoint someone you trust (a procurator) to apply on your behalf. The person must bring a letter from you authorizing them to submit the application.

At the SASSA office, you’ll get an application form that must be filled out in the presence of a SASSA officer. If you or your appointed person need assistance, the SASSA officer is there to help.

Once the form is complete, you’ll receive a stamped receipt with the date and the name of the SASSA official who assisted you. This receipt serves as proof of your application, so keep it safe. The entire process is free of charge.
